What product marketing looks like for social ventures: GSBI Accelerator

It might be easy to skip over this blog post I saw about yet another conference, this one at Santa Clara University. Does the world really need another conference, or another blog post about a conference?

In this case, it probably does.

Santa Clara University recently held their Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship conference. The accelerator process brings together social entrepreneur with established businesses and funding from Santa Clara’s neighborhood–Silicon Valley.

The accelerator program picks 12 organizations for a 10-month program to help them scale their solutions to address pressing global problems. The organizations are tackling clean water, off-grid power, diabetes care, and labor relations.

What struck me in this post was the very business-y language that described this conference and process: mentoring, executive coaching, operations, gap analysis, stakeholders, scale.

Here’s one example of where marketing and the social good clearly came together.
